1. Kala Waterman Glow in the Dark Soprano Ukulele
The name should have already caught your attention. Yes, they meant it when they said “glow in the dark”. This is the first Waterman ukulele we are going to review. Let’s dive into it. It has been rated 4.3 stars out of 5 on Amazon.
As mentioned before, the body is made of plastic but specifically the ABS composite variant. This kind of plastic is known to be very durable under challenging conditions and corrosive chemicals. The tuners are an open gear which means the ukulele is going to be light weight. This ukulele is water resistant.
The Kala Waterman Glow in the Dark Soprano Ukulele has two color options. They are Aqua blue and Yellow in matte finish. This ukulele actually glows in the dark as it advertised. The head doesn’t glow. This ukulele piece is definitely a unique piece for its glowing feature.

This ukulele is also made of ABS composite plastic overall. This plastic variant has no toxic carcinogens in it. The tuners are Nickel-plated Open Gear Tuners which can be difficult to tune but gets the job done. The fretboard is also plastic and has zero frets in it. This ukulele was a bit heavier than the first ukulele in our list.
The concert Waterman ukuleles have two color options which are black and sea foam green. Both of them have a matte finish. The color makes them look very stylish and definitely a collective piece. It looks like the usual high quality Kala ukuleles and not like a plastic one!
As it’s a concert size ukulele, we expected it to be a bit warmer and softer than the soprano Waterman one. It turned out warmer like we thought. It is definitely not superior to the wooden concert ukuleles as they have a greater sound payout.
The Waterman Concert Ukulele’s price is a bit higher than the soprano ones as it should be. Its price is $60 and comes with a gig tote bag and a quick start guide too. As this ukulele is 23 inch length, so the price is quite justified.
3. Kala Waterman Soprano Ukulele Fluorescent
The Kala Waterman Soprano Ukulele in Fluorescent is definitely a rare type of ukulele. This ukulele is transparent and it definitely looks very attractive. Let’s see how the other features turn out to be!
Like you would have guessed, this ukulele’s body is also made of ABS composite plastic. The overall top, back, sides, fingerboard, nut and the saddle are all plastic. But the tuners are Nickel-plated Open Gear Tuners. The body is very durable and water resistant which can be great for outdoor activities such as camping.
The color options on this Waterman ukulele are abundant. Anyone can get their favorite colors for fun. The options are fluorescent orange, pink, purple, green and blue which give a vintage 70’s vibe. The ukulele looks great out in the sun due to its transparent body.
The tonal ability on the Kala Waterman Fluorescent was a bit surprising. It sounded warmer and not as pitchy like we expected but nothing like the wooden traditional ukuleles.
The price of the fluorescent Waterman ukulele is $40. It falls in the budget friendly price range and if you want this as your 2nd or 3rd ukulele, it is definitely worth a shot.
